Online Portfolio of Stephen Rees

Below are many of the websites which I have designed and built. Not all of them still exist, or are public websites, but most of them can be accessed by anyone with an internet connection. I have designed many sites under the name of Arendorian Web-Design, so if you see that branding anywhere, then it is my work.

I design websites because I enjoy doing it. I use only a text editor when it comes to actually writing the website, as this gives me the control I need to get the page perfect. It makes complex pages harder to write, but I still prefer the full control you get from writing everything by hand, as opposed to something a Website Builder will spit out at the end. My editor of choice is NotePad++.

If you'd like to see more of my work, or would like me to design a website for you, please feel free to contact me.

DTAG :: Decision Tree Adventure Generator

DTAG - Decision Tree Adventure Generator; User-Driven Interactive World Creation.

[ SU ACT - Design Concept ]

SU ACT - Design Concept

This is a design concept for the database system I am building for SU ACT (Scripture Union ACT). My aim is to use this design for the system, however, at the moment it only exists as a static dummy page.

[ South Canberra Youth Wind Orchestra ]

South Canberra Youth Wind Orchestra

This is the website for one of my bands, the South Canberra Youth Wind Orchestra. It's pretty simple at the moment, mostly because I have a 'simple-is-best' design method. I will be doing more work on it, but for now it is looking good.

Valorin.net

Look familiar? This is the current design of Valorin.net. Browse around, and see what you can find!

This is here now so that when the layout changes again, I have record of it.

[ In Full Swing ]

In Full Swing

InFullSwing is the Big Band I play in, and thus it fell to me to design a new website to update the existing one. I was playing around and came up with this design, it was designed to be simple, but stylish. Which I believe it does quite well.

Big thanks go to CSSPlay for the menu :)

I also built this as a way to test Portalv3 which is almost ready for an Alpha release. A few bugs were found, and I am happy so say the Portal is working well.

[ gonzo[.muppetnet] ]

gonzo[.muppetnet]

I have a Ubuntu-Server 6.06 box running in my room as a test server, and cos I was bored I designed a new index page for it. It's only a postcard-links page, however, I am very happy with how it turned out.

It is centered horizantally and vertically using CSS only :)

I have implemented this page as the new 'Gateway' image for Valnet

[ Stargate Universe ]

Stargate Universe

Basically a Web-hub for Stargate Related Virtual Series' which can be found on the web. It still needs a heap of work, but its getting there, and the admin interface is working quite well.

This is the new design for this website!

I am using Cutenews to great effect to get the news and features stuff working.

[ Valorin.net (old design) ]

Valorin.net (old design)

This is the old design of this website. It is a great design which worked well to keep the simplicity in the design, while giving an elegant feel to the site. I used the same colour scheme for this design, just tweaked the layout a lot and changed the back-end code.

That design grew over many months slowly into what it is, rather then being designed and built in one weekend. (Like this one!!)

[ ACSdb "RAINBOW" ]

ACSdb "RAINBOW"

ACSdb = Arts and Crafts database; RAINBOW = v1 product name Each year my church runs a huge Arts and Crafts show. For over 15 years we've been using an old Apple Classic II, so last year (2005) I decided it was time to upgrade the system. I built the ACSdb prototype, which we used on the show. It had no major bugs!

ACSdb "RAINBOW" is intended to be v1 of the database system. Due to the nature of the database I cannot provide links to it, but when it reaches version 1 I might release it into the public domain.

The interface is designed to be easy to use, and compatiable with old hardware.

[ UC FOCUS - All About Jesus ]

UC FOCUS - All About Jesus

This is the new design for the UC Focus website! A totally different them from the old one, seen below.

This was actually a very easy one to design as Dan (our new Staff-worker) did the designing for me. All I had to do was build it!

[ UC FOCUS (old design) ]

UC FOCUS (old design)

Website for the FOCUS group at UC which I am a member of. The old website was terrible, so it fell to me to produce a new one. This is a total re-design, which is designed to allow easy updates by any of the FOCUS leadership, and for quick simple displaying of information.
