Proof: Blue = Green!
Following on from the highly successful (and highly googled) proofs that Weston Creek = Center of Canberra and 6 x 9 = 42, I have embarked on another proof. This time, it is seeking to prove that Blue = Green!
Why are you doing this?
I was at a friends place the other night, and noticed on a calender there was a coloured dot on some days. So, I asked; "What do the Green dots mean?" She answered; "What Green dots... Oh these? They are blue." On closer inspection I realised that they were indeed Green, but she wouldn't believe me. So, the aim of this proof is to prove that the colour in question is indeed Green!
Before we begin
Let's get one thing straight, every time I say Blue = Green (in some form) I am actually saying: [the small] Blue [coloured dots on the calender] = Green [as I said they were]
Is this glass half full, or half empty?
To help me prove this, I will start with the age-old puzzle. When you look at this glass, is it half full or half empty? Firstly, assuming and (a) and (b) are equal sizes, and therefore you cannot find the answer using measuring, which is it? Some people would say Half Full, and others would say half Empty. It really depends on who you are.
Therefore, you will agree that the glass is at the same time both Half-Full and Half-Empty, right?
Good, because thats the same reason for the colour being Green, even when others say it is Blue.
Why Blue = Green!
The coloured box on the side is an approximate re-creation to the colour in question. So, what colour is this? You may look at it and see a Green (like me), or you will look at this colour and see a Blue. This colour is made using the following CSS:
background: #00AAAA;
For those who don't understand CSS, this means its a colour in the RGB (Red-Green-Blue) hex set. (00-FF, or 0-255)
Red: 00 - No Red in colour
Green: AA - Quite a lot of Green
Blue: AA - The SAME amount of Blue as Green
Now, you can see from this simple demo that the colour is both Green and Blue much like the glass is both Half-Full and Half-Empty.
Therefore, using this proof it now becomes obvious that the coloured dots on the calendar were infact Green, as I said they were. (they were also Blue as my friend said they were, but lets not go into that!)
From this proof, we can easily see that Blue = Green.
Update: I just heard back from my friend and apparently that "isnt the right blue". So, in the hope of proving that it is indeed Green I will sneak over there to take a photo of said colour, and use that as the source for my colour analysis.
